A modern company with uniquely long experience of maintenance


EuroMaint was formed in 2001 with more than 100 years of experience in qualified maintenance thanks to our origins in Swedish State Railways. Today EuroMaint is an independent company on the Swedish maintenance market. The Group’s companies are specialist businesses that offer advanced maintenance services for the rail transport and engineering industries. We are owned by Ratos AB, which is one of Europe’s biggest companys listed on the stock market. EuroMaint’s subsidiaries, EuroMaint Rail, EuroMaint Industry and EuroMaint Tracksupport, all three possess a uniquely long experience of maintenance within their markets.

2007 EuroMaint is acquired by Ratos AB, which is one of Europe’s biggest companys listed on the stock market.

2007 EuroMaint Tracksupport formed as a spin-off from associated company EuroMaint Rail.

2006 The EuroMaint Group is established. The Group consists of two subsidiaries; EuroMaint Rail and EuroMaint Industry.
Euromation changes name to EuroMaint Industry and expands to Åmål and Gävle in Sweden.
EuroMaint begins internationalisation by the decision to  establish a EuroMaint Rail component renovation plant in Jelgava, Latvia.

2005 EuroMaint acquires Euromation AB – one of Sweden’s leading companies in production streamlining for the engineering industry – from Volvo AB and Volvo Trucks.

2003 EuroMaint decides on a new strategy. The subsidiaries RPL, TGOJ and TrainMaint are merged into the parent company EuroMaint. The fourth subsidiary, TrainTech Engineering is acquired by British company Interfleet. Restructuring programme implemented, including closure of certain workshops and staff reductions of approximately 340 employees.

2001 The Swedish State Railways public enterprise is split up into six independent commercial companies. SJ Machine Division becomes EuroMaint, a group with four subsidiaries.

1996 The deregulation process of the Swedish State Railways is initiated.

1991 The workshops in SJ with a focus on heavy maintenance are transferred to TGOJ AB, a company wholly owned by SJ.

1988 Swedish State Railways is divided into two parts: the authority Banverket which manages the infrastructure, and the public enterprise SJ Group for rail services. The SJ Group is divided into different divisions – including SJ Machine Division – responsible for maintaining the trains.

1939 Parliament decides on government ownership of the railways in Sweden.

1856 The first railway line opens in Sweden, between Örebro and Nora.
