Protecting trains from graffiti

Trains can be protected against graffiti using foil during normal operational maintenance or overhauls and it is suitable for all types of train and surfaces, even corrugated.

The foil helps prevent the adhesion of graffiti paint and protects against dirt. Foiled trains can easily be cleaned of graffiti using an environmentally friendly cleaning agent based on citrus oil. The work can be carried out in normal depots, as the only environmentally harmful residual product is the cloth with the graffiti residue on. Because the foil is not temperature sensitive, cleaning can also be carried out outdoors, for example trackside.

• if the paint is severely damaged, the vehicle may require blasting, filling and painting prior to the foil being applied. However, the foil can usually be applied directly to the vehicle after thorough cleaning.
• foiled surfaces have a much better colour fastness than normal paint – red stays red
• foil can be applied at the depot so the vehicle does not need to be transported to specially adapted premises

Foil is also suitable for printing and makes special decors easier and cheaper to carry out.  If the vehicle is damaged, it is just a case of replacing the foil at the repaired section with new foil. Something that makes it significantly more effective at repairing surface damage, even on vehicles with special decor.
