We improve forward planning in the maintenance workshop and save our customers’ money through automatic measurement of brake pads and wheel profiles.

Some of Euromaint Rail’s workshops have photography equipment that automatically photographs the train when it passes a sensor, which identifies the vehicle type and speed.
After the photo has been taken, the thickness of the brake pads and the status of a number of wheel parameters such as flange height, flange width and diameter are calculated. If the measurement values fall outside the set tolerance values, an order is automatically generated to the workshop for planning the remedial maintenance.
The information is also available for analyses of how much the brake pads have worn. This is something that can identify the causes of brake problems quicker.
Better forward planning for greater availbility
Automatic evaluation has many advantages for both workshops and customers, including:
- better forward panning in maintenance workshops, wear is documented before the vehicle is taken to the workshop.
- better control of wear, which makes it easier to plan remedial maintenance, such as turning for example.
- greater vehicle availability as checks occur automatically, i.e. the vehicle spends less time in the workshop.
- maintenance tasks are only set if necessary.
- information about wheel status is always available via systems and does not require manual measurement and reporting.
The equipment for the automatic evaluation of brakes and wheels is currently used for vehicle types X60 and X2.
