Today, the Norrtåg board decided that Svenska Tågkompaniet is to run the regional train services and that EuroMaint will manage the maintenance over the next nine years. The contract covers six routes in northern Sweden.

The procured traffic structure extends over nine years, starting on the 20th August 2016 until the change of timetable in December 2025.
"We are delighted to be trusted to carry out maintenance for Norrtåg. We have a strong organisation and look forward to being involved with and developing rail services in Norrland together with Tågkompaniet," says Ove Bergkvist, CEO of EuroMaint.

The assignment means that EuroMaint will take over Norrtåg's workshop in Umeå where the maintenance of the X11, X62 and Y31 fleets will take place. X50 and all machining will continue to be carried out in Euromaint's workshop in Notviken, Lulea.

"A consistent theme in Norrtåg's procurement was a desire for stable and punctual traffic. Tågkompaniet and Euromaint form a strong partnership that will deliver on Norrtåg's wishes," says Mats Gustafsson, CEO of Tågkompaniet.

The contract includes service on six routes in the four northernmost counties:
• Umeå – Sundsvall
• Storlien – Sundsvall
• Vännäs – Umeå
• Lycksele – Umeå
• Luleå – Umeå
• Kiruna – Luleå
