Euromaint Industry has signed an agreement with E.on for the refurbishment and renovation of two large generators at the hydroelectric power plant in Njura. The refurbishment work will take place in 2011 and 2012.
The refurbishment and renovation work will extend the service life of the hydroelectric power plant, increase the efficiency of the generators and thus ensure the plant meets the Swedish Energy Agency’s requirements for renewable electricity production.
Njura hydroelectric power plant is one of E.on’s 9 power plants on the Helge river in Småland/Skåne. The power plant has two units and generates around 8.1 GWh every year.
Euromaint Industry’s assignment includes the replacement of stator lamination, rewinding of stators and re-insulation of armature coils for the plant’s two large generators. The assignment to refurbish and renovate the generators will be carried out at EuroMaint’s facility at Åmål.
“The challenge of renovating and refurbishing large generators is to upgrade the technical solution in a cost-effective way with the fewest possible production stoppages,” says Tomas Olin, product area manager at Euromaint Industry.
“We already knew that Euromaint can offer the resources and technical expertise required to refurbish and renovate generators as big as this. Thanks to this renovation, the operational reliability and availability of the generators can be guaranteed. This, in combination with a good technical solution and a competitive price, meant that Euromaint Industry was chosen as a supplier,” says Jan Johansson, E.on’s plant supervisor at the Söder power plant.
